Lost in all the drama surrounding Triple H costing Seth Rollins the Universal Championship a few weeks ago is the fact that he prevented Roman Reigns from winning the title, too. The rivalry between Triple H and Reigns never really got a proper ending, with Triple H dropping the WWE Championship to Reigns at WrestleMania 32 earlier this year and then disappearing for several months. Thus, it’s certainly possible that we haven’t seen the last of Triple H vs. Reigns. Are wrestling fans dying to see that? Probably not, but the idea that the feud between Triple H and Reigns ended abruptly at WrestleMania 32 without any concrete resolution doesn’t make a ton of sense. Perhaps, though, Triple H’s surprising return on Raw was meant to reignite his rivalry with Reigns rather than kickoff his feud with Rollins. A logical way to keep Triple H vs. Reigns going would be to have Triple H once again cost Reigns a title match, this time helping Rusev retain the United States Championship at Clash of Champions. While certainly not a situation most fans are clamoring for, it’s one that could happen, nonetheless.
,3. Rusev Wins After Interference From Lana
Rusev is a heel while Reigns is still being booked as a babyface who’s difficult to defeat, so if Rusev is going to win, he’s most likely going to do that with some sort of outside interference.
WWE has done a great job of utilizing Maryse to assist The Miz in picking up victories on SmackDown, and that’s a philosophy that should translate over to Raw, where Lana frequently does the same for Rusev. At Clash of Champions, WWE may have itself a scenario where exactly this can happen.
Picture this: Rusev and Reigns battle back and forth, but Rusev is unable to put Reigns away, that is until Lana is able to do something that helps Rusev pick up the cheap victory. This would, of course, extend the feud but would also put more heat on Rusev, who is one of Raw’s top heels.
Generally speaking, however, the WWE doesn’t book its heels to cheat enough, and with The Miz being one of the few villains who thrives in that role, perhaps Rusev should be booked similarly as a fellow midcard
2. Reigns Wins Clean And Brings Back The US Title Open Challenge
Roman Reigns hasn’t picked up what would be considered an important victory since returning from his Wellness suspension, but that’s going to change because it doesn’t appear as if Vince McMahon has jumped completely off the Reigns bandwagon.
While Reigns doesn’t really fit in the current Universal title picture, a United States Championship victory and reign could be what gets him back on track, putting him in a position to win back the fans who despise him so much due to the massive push he’s received.
In 2015, we saw John Cena benefit greatly from winning the US title and bringing the weekly US Championship Open Challenge to WWE TV, where he put on a number of classic matches with guys like Cesaro, Sami Zayn and even Stardust. Just imagine what something similar could do for Reigns.
If Reigns beats Rusev for the US title at Clash of Champions, WWE would be wise to have him bring back the weekly US Title Open Challenge, which could help Reigns win over some of the hardcore fans like it did for Cena last year.
1. Rusev Wins Clean
Rusev is essentially the No. 2 heel on Raw behind only Universal Champion Kevin Owens, and as such, he needs to be booked in a way that would suggest he is indeed the show’s second most important villain.
