Everton’s stadium Goodison Park was the stage for the climactic set piece in recent box office smash Creed, which saw Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed trading blows with life-long Evertonian Tony Bellew for a fictitious heavyweight title.
This was the result of Rocky star Sly Stallone’s affinity for the club, and there was a real buzz about the stadium when the Hollywood heavyweight appeared on a big screen at Goodison to encourage the crowd to lend their voices to the movie during filming.
Those of a red persuasion must have felt at least a modicum of envy while watching this epic battle take place on the big screen, amid a glorious sea of blue.
