WWE Has Missed A Golden Opportunity With Lesnar/UFC 200

Less than 24 hours away from Brock Lesnar’s much-anticipated return to the octagon at ‘UFC 200′ to square off with Mark Hunt, the return seems like something is missing in regards to WWE’s involvement.

Let’s face it, WWE could have made it much harder for Lesnar to return to UFC and despite initial talk that this bout is a “one off” it is appearing more and more likely that Lesnar, if he defeats Hunt, will give UFC another run while under contract (and performing) for WWE.

WWE has mostly distanced itself from talking about the bout at length. Despite horrendous ratings and a product that is limping mightily to the ‘WWE Draft’ and brand split, WWE has managed to miss a major opportunity.

Had WWE been smart, it could have hyped Lesnar’s fight. Sure, they promote a non-WWE entity in doing any sort of plug for the bout, but in doing so they significantly increase the legitimacy of the legend their greatest special attraction since Andre ‘The Giant’.

It’s a risky move, but WWE has never been afraid to roll the dice before and they shouldn’t have shied away now.

WWE hyping Lesnar’s return, if orchestrated, could have paid big dividends later. For starters, it would add additional appeal to the WWE Draft and brand split simply for fans wanting to know where Lesnar was going to be going. Whichever brand, likely RAW, he ends up on exclusively, automatically gets a big boost with Lesnar’s unparalleled drawing power.
